When you think of the second day of February, you may automatically think about rodents. Given the popularity of the 1993 Bill Murray documentary Groundhog Day<\/a>, featuring a rodent<\/a>, you could be forgiven this popular notion.<\/p>\n

However, concentrating on a common ground marmot, woodchuck, land beaver or whistle pig would tend to take our focus off of what’s really important—that it’s the start of the birthday holiday season. Whose birthdays? I’m glad you asked.<\/p>\n

The late Stan Getz<\/a> was born on the second of February, as were Farrah Fawcett<\/a>, Christie Brinkley<\/a>, Brent Spiner<\/a> and Shakira<\/a>, as you know. In addition to these luminaries, you’ll be excited to know that February second also my birthday.<\/p>\n

\nI can’t begin to tell you how little I care about the comings and goings of a marmot on this day. In fact, I’m much more excited that it’s World Wetlands Day<\/a>, if I’m to be honest. <\/p>\n

So have another slice of cake…<\/p>\n
