Friends,
I’ve taken a bit of time away from this thing for reasons that are not only non-interesting, but also boring to the general public. However, I’m back and this place is going to be a veritable maelstrom of art. (art? are you sure this is art? -ed Absolutely! I’m making things that make people have reactions. I didn’t say they were good reactions.)
For the last few months, I’ve been participating in the #shittycamerachallenge on Bluesky (Are you following me there? If not, why not? Too soon? Too close? Too cringe? Let me know in the comments!).
Here’s one of the shots that I’ve taken on my terrible Polaroid camera.

This is Hazel and she’s a very good girl. Unfortunately, she’s using her in-built camouflage to confuse the Polaroid OneStep2 camera and its ability to work out color, contrast, and white balance. I still love this shot and it’s in a frame on my wall. What’s the deal? The medium is the message, as the kids say. This shot is about the place and its time AND the hardware. It’s a statement that’s not informed by an algorithm. Like this shot…

You know it’s a fern, and you know that ferns are green. This one isn’t exactly green, but that’s okay.
More in a moment.
Your pal,
– bob
